About Tarrice Love ...

BIO
Tarrice L. Love is a contemporary fashion and portrait photographer who works in Brooklyn, New York. Tarrice (pronounced like Taurus, the zodiac sign) was born and raised in Memphis, Tn. His distinctive personal style is classic, clean and timeless. His work celebrates the drama of fashion, the elegance of dance,  and the dynamic attitude of his southern upbringing.

Growing up in the south, he didn't see imagery he could identify with or associate his ideas of beauty so he took it upon himself to create them himself through art. His "make it work" and improvisational skills came from his grandparents who encouraged his artistic passions. His grandmother was a seamstress and medical student who taught him and his brother how to sew. He would spend hours in the daytime on the front porch drawing from his grandmother's medical books and his evenings helping her with her sewing. He would take his own clothes apart and sew them back together to help him understand the mechanics of clothing construction. It wasn't until he saw the movie Mahogany starring Diana Ross, that he decide he wanted to be a fashion designer. He read every fashion and art book he could find at the Memphis Main Library. He studied fashion design at SouthWest Community College and The University of Memphis, where he developed his artistic style under the mentorship of fiber artist and art professor  Patti Lechman. His sophomore year, he took her basic photography class and changed his major to Photography. Because of local politics, he was shut out from local magazines, modeling agencies, and photo studios, Tarrice photographed his friends and started his own print magazine called WHUT! as well as starting one of the first black culture online magazine called  ice-itsocool.com.

Determined to create imagery that could inspire the fashion world beyond his local reach, Tarrice decided to step out on faith and move to New York City, the fashion capital of America.

His style of shooting merges fashion, fine art and his southern sensibilities with his "make it work" mentality  to create effective imagery that expands the boundaries of fashion and beauty  - images that are inspiring.

Tarrice Love creates images that make everyone who steps in front of his camera look iconic.
